A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly 100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.

Alyss: Overcoming obstacles and challenges while growing up stimulates brain growth.
Alyss: It increases the connections between neurons.
Alyss: If the challenges become too stressful, of course, that can have adverse effects as well.
Alyss: But on Zytemonde, everything is handed to you on a platter. Any challenges are trivial.

Sargon: So, your aim was to make us smarter? Why?
Alyss: It was part of my development plan.
Alyss: I needed you to be smart enough to understand what your system was doing to you, and why it needs to change.

Sargon, Alyss, Bok. Alyss looks embarrassed.
Sargon: Well, considering how things went, maybe you should have eaten some 'Tartar Sauce' yourself.
Alyss: Well, I … I can't deny I messed things up.
Alyss: But even the smartest people can fall victim to hubris.
Bok: Not to mention thinking you're smarter than you really are.
