Quantum Vibe
A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly
100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five
centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various
off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The
story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along
with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues
with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.

Panel 1
Having finished her meal, Diana is placing her dirty dishes in the dish disposal. The python follows her, still hanging from above.
Diana: Yeah, anyway, this whole business with Drusilla and Max intrigues me.
Monty: Max Marrón's death is a tragedy, of course, but ... I do not understand why he did not have a back-up.
Diana: No back-up. You mean, like an under-study?
Panel 2
Diana stops to look at Monty.
Monty: No, as in a personality back-up.
Monty: Most humans routinely encode their personality and memories into quad-hexidecimal form and store them on permanent media.
Monty: Then if their bodies are destroyed in an accident or, more rarely, an illness, they can be restored in new bodies either grown or manufactured for them.
Panel 3
Diana walks through a corridor, the python keeping up somehow.
Diana: No kidding. Does Alyss make back-ups?
Monty: Yes, of course.
Diana: Did the others who went with her?
Monty: That requires having a cortical implant, and there was no time to install any.
Diana: There's a down-side to everything, I suppose.
