Quantum Vibe
A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly
100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five
centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various
off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The
story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along
with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues
with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.
Kickstarter successful and closed [ May 19, 2026 ]
The Kickstarter campaign for Not-Safe.Space Chapter 3 concluded successfully on April 21, and Scott extended the time allowed for late pledges until May 19.
Books have been ordered from the printer and Scott will be spending the next week or so setting up and sending the PDF files to those who asked for them.
(There are still six of you who have not responded to the survey asking for e-mail and snail-mail addresses, he'll do the best he can.)
Panel 1
Seamus, Vanessa, Nicole at the bistro table. Seamus is trying to placate an indignant Nicole. Vanessa looks like she's about to cry.
Seamus: No, not a fraud. The revised protocols were published exactly as we followed them.
Seamus: You are indeed the first – and so far only – clone to be made by osmotic construction.
Seamus: She just used larger pieces.
Panel 2
Two-shot of Nicole and Vanessa.
Nicole: Why did you lie to me?
Vanessa: I – I thought it would be better for you this way.
Nicole: When is a lie better than the truth?
Panel 3
Medium shot of Seamus, hoisting a fork-load of food from his plate.
Seamus: When it protects secrets.
Seamus: The genetic donors wished to remain anonymous, for varying reasons.
Seamus: All of them waived parental right or responsibility for you.
Panel 4
Two-shot of Vanessa and Nicole.
Vanessa: We worried that if you knew you had identifiable fathers you would get curious and start seeking them out.
Vanessa: Most of them didn't want to be sought out. And would react badly if you turned up at their doors.
