A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly 100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.

Panel 1Cut back to Bok and Li in Li’s ship.
Bok: Geez, your whole family? Talk about vindictive.
Li: My first impulse was to kill that bastard on the spot.

Back to Li in the lion’s den, thinking furiously. We can see the two Enforcers behind him.
Caption: ‘But reason set in and I realized that I’d be unable to protect Nicole … that is, Alyss, or our kids, if I was killed there and then for my trouble.
Caption: ‘So … I played along, looking for an opening.’

Li and Barnhill.
Li: I … would need some time to get my family in the city to safety.
Barnhill: Of course. But don’t wait too long.
Barnhill: Send me the codes when you’re ready to evacuate.

The two enforcers are now standing either side of Li.
Li: You’re … remarkably trusting.
Barnhill: As I’ve explained, our victory is virtually guaranteed, either way.
Barnhill: But don’t take more than three days, or my trust will falter.
