To boldly go where no manic pixie dream girl has gone before.
Quantum Vibe
A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly
100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five
centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various
off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The
story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along
with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues
with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.
Kickstarter successful and closed [ May 19, 2026 ]
The Kickstarter campaign for Not-Safe.Space Chapter 3 concluded successfully on April 21, and Scott extended the time allowed for late pledges until May 19.
Books have been ordered from the printer and Scott will be spending the next week or so setting up and sending the PDF files to those who asked for them.
(There are still six of you who have not responded to the survey asking for e-mail and snail-mail addresses, he'll do the best he can.)
Panel 1
Still in the corridor, Eithne fesses up.
Eithne: Oh, all right, I confess: I want to go with you guys!
Eithne: I want to explore strange, new galaxies! Seek out ...
Hugo: Out of the question.
Panel 2
Eithne starts tearing up, Hugo rolls his eyes, as Murphy smiles knowingly.
Hugo: Oh, very well, You may accompany us on our shake-down cruise.
Hugo: But when we depart for Galaxy S257163185, you can take the transport you arrived in and return to Gabriola.
Hugo: Please extend our regards to your grandmother.
Panel 3
They continue along a corridor.
Eithne: But, why can't I go to Galaxy, uh, S257163185?
Murphy: It's dangerous. Hugo and I have survived, collectively, 1500 years of wars, adventure, and disasters.
Hugh: Until very recently, apparently.
Panel 4
Murphy gently places her palms along the sides of Eithne's face. Eithne is having none of it.
Murphy: We're experienced adventurers, honey.
Murphy: Even though you are quite brilliant, you're inexperienced, and as a bio-person, all too vulnerable.
Eithne: Don't baby me.
Panel 5
They enter the room with the hatch in the floor.
Eithne: You have no idea what happened to your former selves!
Eithne: You'll make the same mistakes you made last time, and get killed again!
Hugh: We'll be more cautious this time, and you won't be at risk.
Panel 6
The three descend in the gravity-lift, Eithne pouting, Murphy looking sad, Hugh resolute.
Eithne: Hmp. All this work for nothing.
Hugo: You will be properly compensated for your time and skill.
Murphy: And we'll be back in a year, and then you can come with us on our next mission, okay?
