Quantum Vibe
A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly 100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.

Juan: {Whew!} What a rigamarole! I got good info from one source, but the rest of the afternoon was one dead end after another.
Juan: How'd you do, Diana?

Pull back to show Diana at her desk. Looking very stoned. Eyes are zonkered, hair mussed.
Juan: Diana? Hey, can you hear me?
Juan: Wait – is that aroma what I think it is?
Juan: I'm not paying you to get baked on the job, you know.

Diana turns to face Juan, very bleary-eyed.

Diana: One-a my con … contacks, hangs out at a hooker den.
Diana: I think.
