Quantum Vibe

A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly 100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.

What Comes Next [ Mar 18, 2024 ]

The War is Over. We Won.

The war is over, but This Means War has a ways to go. Novo Paolo/Bubbleopolis is still in a nebula/stellar nursery, no one knows what happened to the planet Sharen (center of the Intergalactic Council), and the status of the now-surrendered Invaders is yet to be resolved. What will they do when they learn their homeworld is basically destroyed? Will Alyss and Li be re-united? How about Diana (the real one) and Otto?

These questions will be resolved in the next few weeks, before This Means War part 3 wraps in late May.

After that, I plan to go BACK in time about 400 years, to when Alyss and Li left their home in the Sol System to colonize a new world on the far side of the galaxy. As one might expect, hijinks ensue. New subtitle yet to be determined, start date sometime in around the start of July. Stay tuned!

Transcript For Strip 2391

Panel 1
Jerome Falstaff reports from a revised Notícias Inacreditável set, designed to look something like a redoubt.

Jerome: While the local Displacer Net is gone, Libérateurs continue their expansion across the city, dispatched from troop carriers using their own on-board Displacer Engines.

Panel 2
Scene in a courtyard where invaders emerge from small troop carriers, and the locals flee before them

Jerome (from cameo): Some of the expansions have been peaceful, as citizens simply responded by running and hiding.

Panel 3
A squad of Libérateurs stands in the middle of an empty concourse

Jerome: The Libérateurs find themselves in deserted common areas, with people as well as goods and services sealed behind locked doors and Oresme shields.

Panel 4
In a different concourse, a squad of Libérateurs marches along, unaware of armed citizens lying in wait.

Jerome: In other cases, the arrivals of the invaders produced different results.

Panel 5
Libérateurs and citizens (now more evenly matched than previously) engage in an intense fire-fight.

Jerome: A citizen militia, organized as Resposta Ciudadana, has begun offering armed resistance.

Panel 6
Back to the studio:

Jerome: But no matter how many Libératurs the resistors manage to stop, and kill, the supply of new invaders seems inexhaustible.
Jerome: Could the best efforts of the Pillars, their ‘second string,’ and the miltia not be enough to save the city?
