Dark plans fall like thunderbolts.
Quantum Vibe
A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly
100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five
centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various
off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The
story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along
with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues
with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.

Panel 1
Hugo and Murphy emerge from the hopper that had just materialized
Hugo: Richard! Lucille! Frederick! Did you hear about the planet Shārén?
Murphy: Ah, hello, William, Li.
Panel 2
Everyone looks at Hugo like he’s an idiot.
Hugo: Ah, I guess you have heard.
Hugo: But, do you have any idea how it happened?
Panel 3
Hugo and Murphy. Murphy is looking solemn, Hugo is looking somewhat proud.
Murphy: Spoiler: they did it to themselves.
Hugo: Ah yes, for the most part.
Hugo: The IGC was using an unstable, dangerous technology to by-pass the Oresme Shield protecting Bubbleopolis.
Panel 4
Hugo explains:
Hugo: They created an 8-dimensional conduit between two portals, one on Shārén and the other inside their so-called ‘Legation’ in Bubbleopolis.
Hugo: The portals were fixed in such a way that they could not be moved via the Murphy Displacer tech, but they had to be anchored within the local gravity wells at each end.
Hugo: But when I … ah … Displaced the city to a safe location, the portal at that end lost its anchor, and started to drift, and ...
Panel 5
Murphy finishes Hugo’s sentence.
Murphy: The conduit collapsed, causing the portals at each end to convert all mass in the vacinity …
Hugo: … And there was considerably more mass adjacent to the Shārén end …
Murphy: … and, well, ka-blooey.
Panel 6
The others are stunned by the realization
Li: So, they did it to themselves ...
William: … but you pulled the trigger.
Lucy: And thereby changed the intergalactic balance of power.
