Quantum Vibe
A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly
100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five
centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various
off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The
story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along
with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues
with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.
What Comes Next [ Mar 18, 2024 ]
The war is over, but This Means War has a ways to go. Novo Paolo/Bubbleopolis is still in a nebula/stellar nursery, no one knows what happened to the planet Sharen (center of the Intergalactic Council), and the status of the now-surrendered Invaders is yet to be resolved. What will they do when they learn their homeworld is basically destroyed? Will Alyss and Li be re-united? How about Diana (the real one) and Otto?
These questions will be resolved in the next few weeks, before This Means War part 3 wraps in late May.
After that, I plan to go BACK in time about 400 years, to when Alyss and Li left their home in the Sol System to colonize a new world on the far side of the galaxy. As one might expect, hijinks ensue. New subtitle yet to be determined, start date sometime in around the start of July. Stay tuned!
Panel 1
Exterior shot: the entrance to Callahan's Bar & Grill #49.
Buford: You wanna be called 'Murphy?'
Buford: T'at doesn't even start wit' a 'fee.'
Murphy: That's sort of the point.
Panel 2
Three-shot of the girls at their high table.
Murphy: I choose this name to honor Seamus, my liberator.
Murphy: 'Murphy' is a form of the name, Murchadha.
Nicole: Hey, what about me? I'm out the 500 silgrams I paid to that slave-trader.
Panel 3
Two-shot of Murphy and Nicole.
Murphy: Which I'll gladly repay you as soon as I'm able.
Murphy: But I do still need a second name, and if it pleases you I could take your family name, 'Oresme.'
Panel 4
Three-shot of the girls. Buford is grinning wryly. Nicole looks dubious.
Buford: If you want to mix languages like that you could be 'Murphy Beltrán.'
Ventura: That sounds intriguing.
Nicole: Actually my last name is a bit of a pain -- people either mis-pronounce or misspell it.
Panel 5
Three-shot of the girls.
Veronica: How do you spell it? O-R-E-M?
Nicole: That's how it's pronounced, but it's spelled O-R-E-S-M-E.
Panel 6
Three-shot of the girls. Now Nicole is grinning wryly.
Veronica: Why, that's French! I thought you were Scottish.
Nicole: Do I LOOK Scottish?
Panel 7
Now Murphy looks wryly at Nicole, who protests:
Veronica: And what is that you're drinking, my fine, fleshy friend?
Nicole: A scotch -- hey, that doesn't count!
Panel 8
Buford laughs, Ventura smiles, Nicole raises her shot-glass in a toasting gesture.
Buford: Har-har!
Ventura: You are what you drink, you know.
Nicole: Use whatever name you like, but you'll always be my Robot-Girl.
