A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly
100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five
centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various
off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The
story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along
with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues
with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.

Nigel is at the offices of Bosley Investigations, speaking with Agent Feirstein and a cyan-coated standard human female, who is holding a Screen under her arm.
Agent Feirstein: T'ank you for coming over, Mr. Lefin. This is Doctor Burton.
Nigel: You said you haf some news for me?
Dr. Burton walks Nigel along a corridor, with Feirstein following.
Dr. Burton: We do. The cause of death was stroke. Caused by a thrombosal occlusion in her left basilar artery.
Nigel: Stroke? T'rombosis? How can t'at be?
Now they're in Dr. Burton's office, where she is displaying a graphic of Nina's brain on a large wallscreen. Burton indicates the area of the injury.
Dr. Burton: It is rare in someone so young, but it does happen.
Nigel: But – she took good care of herself, had regular healt' screenings …
Dr. Burton presents her Screen to Nigel. Nigel looks defeated.
Dr. Burton: Sometimes screenings miss things.
Dr. Burton: Sign here so we can release the body to you.
Cut to: Nigel, Buford, Nicole and Murphy sitting at a different café table, with drinks.
Nicole: So where is, uh, the body now?
Nigel: In cold storage. I told 'em I wanted to bring family in for final fiewing before she … goes into t'e recycler.
Murphy and Nigel.
Murphy: So you have doubts about the autopsy report.
Nigel: Absolutely I doubt it. I … well, it's a gut feeling, I have to admit.
Nigel: Do you t'ink Dr. O'Murchadha could help me?
Murphy, Nigel and Buford. Buford is making sad eyes at Murphy.
Murphy: Well, Dr. O'Murchadha doesn't want to get involved …
Murphy: On the other hand I owe Buford a major favor, and I do have some medical knowledge after caring for Po Xu-ke in his final years.
Murphy, Nigel and Buford. Nigel looks hopeful, and Buford is beaming in at Murphy.
Murphy: Let me examine the body, and I'll see what I can find out.
