Quantum Vibe
A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly 100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.
Kickstarter successful and closed [ May 19, 2026 ]
The Kickstarter campaign for Not-Safe.Space Chapter 3 concluded successfully on April 21, and Scott extended the time allowed for late pledges until May 19.
Books have been ordered from the printer and Scott will be spending the next week or so setting up and sending the PDF files to those who asked for them.
(There are still six of you who have not responded to the survey asking for e-mail and snail-mail addresses, he'll do the best he can.)

Panel 1Inside a passenger 'safe area.' Nicole, Seamus and Murphy sit cheek-by-jowl among some other passengers. An armed crewman stands by, his hand cupped to his ear.
Nicole (thoughtsend): So, pirates?
Seamus (thoughtsend): Most likely, yes.
Murphy (thoughtsend): What should we do?

Seamus (thoughtsend): Until we know more, stay calm and follow the crews' instructions.
Seamus (thoughtsend): When we learn more, follow my instructions.

Nicole (thoughtsend): I can't believe you haven't hacked into the ship's comms to get the inside scoop.
Seamus (thoughtsend): Why do you think I haven't?

Cut to Santos leading his command-deck officers down a curving ramp.
Santos: Strider, make sure Mueller doesn't try to run and hide somewhere.
Santos: I don't want any surprises when I deal with these pirates.
Strider: Aye, sir.

Bartoli and Santos.
Bartoli: What do you think will happen?
Santos: Best scenario is they'll strip us of everything of value, then send us on our way.
Bartoli: Worst scenario?

Santos looks at Bartoli through narrowed eyes.
Santos: Our android crew get sold into slavery on Europa ...
Santos: … the rest of us get vacuumed.
Santos: Any other questions?

The Argosy officers round a corner, and are confronted by a group of the pirates, backed by combat-bots. The officers' eyes widen, especially Mueller's.
Mueller (trembling): Oh. my. Gore. It's ...
