A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly 100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.

Seamus (from inside): It already has been. A rescue ship has signaled and is approaching.

Inside the lifeboat, Murphy and Seamus. Nicole is not in evidence.
Murphy: Are you in contact with the lifeboat's systems?
Seamus: They are rudimentary, but effective. The boat has already changed course to intercept the rescue ship, Intrepid.

Murphy and Seamus.
Murphy: You should warn us when the boat is about to stop decelerating, since there's no electro-gravity here.
Seamus: Yes, I suppose it could be inconvenient ...
