Quantum Vibe
A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly
100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five
centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various
off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The
story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along
with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues
with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.
Kickstarter successful and closed [ May 19, 2026 ]
The Kickstarter campaign for Not-Safe.Space Chapter 3 concluded successfully on April 21, and Scott extended the time allowed for late pledges until May 19.
Books have been ordered from the printer and Scott will be spending the next week or so setting up and sending the PDF files to those who asked for them.
(There are still six of you who have not responded to the survey asking for e-mail and snail-mail addresses, he'll do the best he can.)
Panel 1
Nicole, Murphy and Seamus entering the lifeboat. They each carry a bag or small suitcase. The interior is about five meters by three meters dominated by a large compartment full of twin-size beds with other compartments fore and aft.
Caption: 'We saved one of the Argosy's lifeboats. We'll take it out in the Jalopy to a plausible vector for having left the scene of our meeting, where you'll go aboard.'
Panel 2
The lifeboat zooming across space, backwards. Jove is a small disc in the background.
Caption: 'We'll send you on your way. The engines will be firing to slow your approach to Ganymede, but your transponders will have been disabled.
Caption: 'You will be able to repair them in a couple of hours, and then start signaling.'
Panel 3
Inside the lifeboat, Nicole, Seamus and Murphy on adjacent beds.
Nicole: He didn't explain how we explain being separated from the other passengers, in our own lifeboat.
Seamus: Ah yes, that was quite a hitch in our plan, at first.
Panel 4
Seamus holds up a glowing card. The girls both reach for it.
Seamus: You'll need to know the exact cover story in full detail.
Seamus: Touch this card and it will be copied over to you.
Panel 5
The girls touch the card – and react.
Nicole: You have them – EWWWW!!!
Murphy: This is almost the exact opposite of what happened.
Panel 6
Nicole is angry, Murphy looks deflated.
Nicole: I can't believe you would use her this way!
Murphy: He agreed to let us go because – I offered him sex?
Panel 7
Seamus is defensive.
Seamus: It's more nuanced than that. You distracted him, seduced him.
Seamus: You won our release and then managed to sneak aboard with us and escape him.
Seamus: This is the narrative we think they're most likely to accept.
Panel 8
Seamus closes the sale, as the girls realize their predicament.
Seamus: Let me put it this way:
Seamus: We must convince the authorities on Ganymede that we are innocent victims of the dread space-pirate, or else we'll never see daylight again.
