Quantum Vibe

A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly 100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.

Transcript For Strip 1050

Panel 1
Establishing shot of domed Trosberg, on Ganymede. We can see Jupiter in the background sky.
Caption: Five tendays later, and four billion klicks sunward:
Voice 1: Good morning, Maureen.
Voice 1: How much trouble are we in today?
Panel 2
Establishing shot of Situ Li-Liang's office. It is not ostentatious, but somewhat roomy. Li sits behind a modern-styled desk, and Maureen, nee Pandora, is walking towards it.
Maureen: Oh, just the usual nonsense.
Maureen: The shielding contractors on Io have overrun their budget again and are demanding an increase ...
Panel 3
Maureen is standing next to Li, touching the personal Screen he is holding with her index finger. A flash indicates data transfer. Li looks tired.
Maureen: The shift-rotation shuttles have fallen behind in their overhaul schedules. They need more mechanics.
Maureen: And of course OmegaTek wants to re-negotiate the contract for a lower payment schedule.
Li: Of course.
Panel 4
Li looks at his screen, a bit perplexed.
Li: And, what's this?
Maureen: An encrypted message using the key we used to use back in the old days.
Maureen: It's flagged, 'Don't tell your wife.'
Panel 5
Li smirks as he moves his finger across the Screen. Maureen rolls her eyes.
Li: Well, it's a good thing we're not married, huh?
Maureen: I tried to trace the source bit it also uses our old distributed-node protocol.
Li: Let's see what this is all about ...
Panel 6
Li's eyes goggle as a smiling Nicole appears on the screen in a recorded message.
Nicole (electronic): Hi! guess who?
Nicole: Sorry to be out of touch for so long but I've been tremendously busy, as I suppose you have as well.

Panel 7
Two-shot of Maureen and Li. Maureen has a hand over her mouth, eyes wide. Li's eyes are starting to tear up.
Nicole (electronic, from screen): But I need your help with a certain matter, on behalf of a mutual friend.
Nicole: We should meet as soon as possible, so we can discuss the details.
Panel 8
Closer shot on Maureen. Her eyes are downcast.
Nicole (electronic, OP): Please reply with a location where we can get together privately and I can be there in a few hours.
Nicole: I've missed you terribly, Li.
