Quantum Vibe
A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly
100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five
centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various
off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The
story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along
with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues
with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.
Kickstarter successful and closed [ May 19, 2026 ]
The Kickstarter campaign for Not-Safe.Space Chapter 3 concluded successfully on April 21, and Scott extended the time allowed for late pledges until May 19.
Books have been ordered from the printer and Scott will be spending the next week or so setting up and sending the PDF files to those who asked for them.
(There are still six of you who have not responded to the survey asking for e-mail and snail-mail addresses, he'll do the best he can.)
Panel 1
Cut to: A young, roughly 10-year-old version of Bok is sitting with a 40-ish man, Bok's Dad, on a rock, perched on the bank of a calm river. They have crude fishing poles with lines in the water – a gentle current is pulling the floats on the lines a bit to the right. Behind them on the rock is a cooler.
Bok: Don't seem to be any fish here, Dad.
Dad: Oh, they're here all right. This is a great place, but you need patience.
Dad: Anyway, it's a lovely, peaceful day. What's your hurry?
Panel 2
Closer 2-shot on Bok and his Dad.
Bok: This rock is hard and what if we get caught out here?
Dad: In the first place, city life has made you soft, and this is a good chance to toughen-up a bit.
Dad: In the second place, we're not going to get caught. The fish are gonna get caught.
Panel 3
Another angle on Bok and his Dad.
Bok: Will butt-calluses make me a better man? I don't get it.
Dad: Learned helplessness is no way to live. You need to be able to feed yourself, and that doesn't just mean microwaving your own package meal.
Dad: Besides, the girls love butt-calluses on a guy. Trust me on this one.
