Quantum Vibe
A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly
100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five
centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various
off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The
story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along
with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues
with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.
Kickstarter successful and closed [ May 19, 2026 ]
The Kickstarter campaign for Not-Safe.Space Chapter 3 concluded successfully on April 21, and Scott extended the time allowed for late pledges until May 19.
Books have been ordered from the printer and Scott will be spending the next week or so setting up and sending the PDF files to those who asked for them.
(There are still six of you who have not responded to the survey asking for e-mail and snail-mail addresses, he'll do the best he can.)
Panel 1
The gang are now in a fire-fight with guardbots coming at them from both directions.
SFX: ZING! ZING! ZING! ZING! ZING!
Sargon: That's thirty-five, I think.
Elric: You're keeping count?
Lupin: We're getting bogged down.
Alyss: Time to make a hole.
Panel 2
Alyss has unslung her long-gun and is firing it at a wall. A heavy beam emits from it.
Alyss: Fire in the hole!
Panel 3
That wall now has a gaping hole in it, and beyond that we can see another hole, and beyond that, another. Alyss is throwing some more large pebbles through the hole.
Alyss: Follow me!
Panel 4
The gang follow Alyss through another corridor.
Lupin: Not through that hole?
Alyss: Misdirection. Those tracers I tossed will lead them away from us.
Alyss: For a few minutes, anyway.
Panel 5
The gang emerge through a double-doorway, but stop short, astonished by what they're seeing.
Sargon: Good gourd.
Elric: I'd heard rumors, but ...
Alyss: This must be ...
Panel 6
Reverse view, so we see what the gang is seeing: A large room with four hospital-type beds, each containing a person in a hospital-type gown, his or her head pressed into elaborate machinery.
Alyss: … where they took poor Santiago.
