Quantum Vibe
A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly
100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five
centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various
off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The
story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along
with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues
with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.

Panel 1
In the mess hall – the refugees are seated at rows of tables, some eating, some drinking, most turned to look at Alyss, who is standing at one end of the hall, wearing normal clothes. Behind her is a viewscreen currently showing a view of Oz. Her rescue team (Noelle is with her brother now) is at one of the tables near her, chowing down. Bok and Zander are standing nearby.
Caption: Shortly:
Alyss: Okay, I'll lay it out for you.
Alyss: Each of you must decide for yourself where you go from here: back to Zytemonde or on to Oz.
Panel 2
Medium close-up on Alyss
Alyss: If you come to Oz, you will be quartered for a time with the Riggenbach Society, which is set up to help refugees from low-tech cultures transition to modern society.
Alyss: You might want to then establish yourselves in Oz, or migrate to one of hundreds of other colony worlds, as you choose.
Alyss: Oz is a place where everyone has equal legal standing each person's material status depends on how much value he generates for the market-exchange economy.
Alyss: In other words, you'll have to work for a living.
Panel 3
Alyss speaks to the asssembled refugees.
Alyss: But the truth is, on Zytemonde you'll have to do the same, living outside the planned economy.
Alyss: I can provide the knowledge you will need to fend completely for yourselves – how to grow your own food, how to build and repair your machinery.
Alyss: The rest is up to you.
Panel 4
Boney, who is at one of the tables closer to Alyss, is a natural leader. He speaks up.
Boney: Most of us have been working to support ourselves, in a sense, as outcasts. Personally, from what Bok has told me, I think I'd do better in Oz.
Boney: But I'm wondering exactly how much time we have to make this decision?
Panel 5
Alyss, with Bok and Zander moving in to flank her.
Alyss: A fair question.
Alyss: But first, I've asked Bok and Zander to make a short presentation giving you a description of life in Oz from a Zytemondian's perspective.
Panel 6
Same shot, Bok and Zander showing surprise at Alyss' next statement.
Alyss: As to how long you have to decide …
Alyss: About two hours – call it roughly one and a half of your dessimes.
Alyss: That's how long I expect it will take me to make one last visit to Zytemonde.
