Quantum Vibe
A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly
100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five
centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various
off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The
story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along
with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues
with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.

Panel 1
Juan is seated in a chair in a darkened room, with a single overhead light spotlighting him. He has a collar around his neck and metal cuffs on his wrists and ankles. He is looking around, assessing his situation.
Caption: Eventually the intruders carried Juan out and what we think happened afterward was pieced together from various sources. Not all of them reliable, and there are gaps.
Caption: Juan regained consciousness in an interrogation room, with restraining collar and cuffs. His zringer was gone, of course, and the room was shielded against any radio distress call.
Panel 2
Juan is confronted by a shadowy figure we only see from the shoulders down throughout this scene.
Caption: After a while:
Shadowy Figure: I am reassured that you are uninjured, however inconvenienced, Señor Gómez.
Juan: What … what do you want?
Panel 3
Juan squints up at the Figure, against the overhead light.
Shadowy Figure: We know you are investigating the unsolved murder of Hayami the gynoid, and Alyss Roaz is paying you.
Juan: Don't believe everything you read on Livro Espacial.
Figure: This is no time for jokes, Señor Gómez.
Panel 4
The restraining collar suddenly closes on Juan's neck and throws his head back. He grimaces in pain. (The studs on the collar light up indicating it is powered)
Juan: {UURRK!}
Shadowy Figure: I'm pressed for time and not in the mood for socializing.
Shadowy Figure: We want to know two things: How much you've learned, and where we might find your assistant.
