Dark plans fall like thunderbolts.
Quantum Vibe
A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly
100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five
centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various
off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The
story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along
with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues
with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.
Kickstarter Success! [ May 13, 2025 ]
The Not-Safe-Space 2 Kickstarter Campaign has ended successfully. Thanks to all who pledged!
Now we get to wait 2 weeks while Kickstarter transmits the funds, and Scott can order the books, and send surveys to backers to get current e-mail addresses for the .PDF versions and mailing addresses for the physical books.
Panel 1
Cut to: Aerial view of the White Complex, a cluster of large, interconnected towers surrounded by a swarm of lesser structures, on the planet Metropolis.
Caption: The White Complex, in the city of Metropolis, on the planet Wheeler.
Voice from Complex: Well, there was a series of arsons in the Farrago system last year, and some group named League For Justice claimed responsibility.
Voice: The InterLeo arrested some people, but nothing has been heard of them since.
Panel 2
Inside one of the towers: Albert Montoya is leaning on a balustrade on a mezzanine level overlooking a wide concourse with scores of people milling about. He is conversing with someone sitting in a lounge chair behind a column holding up the higher levels.
Montoya: No leads, no traces?
Voice: Up in the proverbial smoke, sorry.
Voice: But you know how InterLeo is, Al.
Caption: Normally, a conversation like this would take place over a secure Loquent link.
Panel 3
Shift angle to show the person sitting behind the column. A female figure still mostly in shadow.
Montoya: Yeah. They're great at making inconvenient people disappear.
Female: They're also good at false-flag operations. Arrests are an easy cover for whisking operatives out of theater.
Caption: But the authorities on Wheeler set up a planet-wide Loquent suppression field.
Panel 4
Albert begins walking away from the woman, who remains seated.
Female: You're playing with a rough crowd. Don't make yourself too inconvenient.
Montoya: Doesn't look like I'll have much choice. You be careful, too.
Caption: So, inquiries like this must be carried out the old-fashioned – and riskier – way.
