Quantum Vibe
A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly
100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five
centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various
off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The
story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along
with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues
with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.

Panel 1
Three-shot of Hernandez with Ajax and Ashanti seated behind him. Hernandez turns a bit to direct his question to Ajax.
Hernandez: Did you hear that, Ajax? He would throw them under the bus but they would refuse to cooperate, even at the cost of their lives!
Hernandez: What sort of person would make a choice like that?
Panel 2
He turns back to face the prisoners, now smiling warmly. The girls look a bit uncertain.
Hernandez: Someone who uses her reason, who understands that the negation of a value is not a value.
Hernandez: Who cherishes her integrity and refuses to compromise with evil.
Panel 3
Hernandez and Seamus shake hands, and the girls eyes goggle.
Hernandez: You chose your companions well, Old Man.
Seamus: I had them made-to-order, actually. Saves a lot of time.
Panel 4
Now both Nicole and Murphy have moved a bit away from Seamus, regarding him as if seeing him for the first time.
Nicole: What? You're in cahoots with this savage?
Seamus: Nicole, wait …
Nicole: Didn't you see that guy in the corridor? He cuts out people's tongues!
Panel 5
Murphy pipes up.
Murphy: He also had one of the ship's officers thrown out an airlock.
Seamus: What, how do you …
Murphy: You're not the only one who can hack into the ship's comms.
Panel 6
Hernandez and Seamus, and Seamus looks annoyed.
Seamus: I thought you'd agreed no more executions. What gives?
Hernandez: The scum was a slave-trader and a wife-beater. What else could I do?
Panel 7
Hernandez pauses while the prisoners take a moment to think about it.
No dialog
Panel 8
Now the prisoners respond, in a desultory fashion.
Nicole: Well, it's not like he didn't have it coming.
Seamus: Not really an injustice.
Murphy: Hard to defend someone like that.
