Quantum Vibe

A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly 100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.

Transcript For Strip 857

Panel 1
Elevated view of Hugh and Manny (in a pressure suit) surveying the cargo area. There's a huge burn mark on the floor extending past the central shaft towards the far bulkhead, a leftover from Baines' departure.
Hugh: I guess it could have been worse.
Bill: No critical systems damaged, yeah. But it's gonna cost me plenty to fix this.
Panel 2
Closer 2-shot on Bill and Hugh.
Bill: How long to get the controls fixed?
Hugh: About an hour. Only need to fab a couple of parts.
Hugh: Is Carl gonna be okay?

Panel 3
Cut to a view of the ship's 'autodoc,' which looks like a high-tech coffin. Bill speaks from an inset cameo:
Bill: I think so. Dorothy said we got him into the autodoc just in time.
Bill: He's stabilized, but it's gonna take a medi-vat to fix his busted neck, and that will have to wait until we get where we're going.

Panel 4
Bill heads back towards the lift, as Hugh turns towards a panel full of ripped wires..
Bill: I gotta head back topside, you gonna be okay here?
Hugh: I'll be fine. Watch out in case there are any more Pinocchios among our guests.
Bill: Let's not tempt fate, Hugh.
