A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly 100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.

Transcript For Strip 897

Panel 1
Nicole is emerging from a lift. She has her Shovel in hand but it's been collapsed back into its smaller form.
Nicole (upload): Okay, now which way?
Cristina: Left corridor, then third right.
Panel 2
Nicole proceeds down the corridor.
Nicole: How many people besides us are left here?
Cristina: Absent Bobinardi, Toombs, and the Enforcer, that leaves the three pilots, the three mechanics, and Bobinardi's valets, Jerry and Dean.
Panel 3
Nicole rounds the left turn and finds herself face to face with Jerry and Dean, the two diminutive Associates we saw way back in the first volume as Bobinardi was leaving Terra.
Nicole: Ho-shuck.
Jerry and Dean: PLEASE DON'T KILL US!!
Panel 4
Nicole looks down at them disdainfully.
Nicole: Why would I want to kill you?
Jerry: Well, we saw you kill our boss.
Dean: Also, you kind of have blood all over you.
Panel 5
Nicole looks down at her blood-splattered self, as Jerry and Dean continue.
Nicole: Well, I was angry. Bobinardi had just murdered my best friend.
Jerry: Oh, the ginger girl was your friend?
Dean: Your friend killed Mr. Toombs and Jacques.
Panel 6
Nicole is becoming intrigued with these two, who are relaxing now.
Nicole: Your Enforcer's name was Jacques?
Jerry: Yeah, and he was a mean sumbitch.
Dean: But she cut him to pieces! It was kinda awesome.

Two-shot of Jerry and Dean, from Nicole's POV.
Jerry: Um, we wanted to ask you, since we don't have an Executive to direct us �
Dean: And Cristina keeps telling us, 'go figure it out yourself!'
Jerry: And you look like you know what you're doing �
Dean: And we're a billion klicks from anywhere ...
