Quantum Vibe
A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly
100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five
centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various
off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The
story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along
with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues
with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.
Kickstarter successful and closed [ May 19, 2026 ]
The Kickstarter campaign for Not-Safe.Space Chapter 3 concluded successfully on April 21, and Scott extended the time allowed for late pledges until May 19.
Books have been ordered from the printer and Scott will be spending the next week or so setting up and sending the PDF files to those who asked for them.
(There are still six of you who have not responded to the survey asking for e-mail and snail-mail addresses, he'll do the best he can.)
Panel 1
Cut to: 10-year-old Nicole with her mother, Vanessa. Behind them is a farm located in the Oblate Spheroid section of L-5 City (the ground is slightly bowed)
Caption: Twelve years ago, in the Oblate Spheroid of L-5 City:
Nicole: But m-o-o-o-o-m!
Vanessa: No buts, Nicole.
Panel 2
Vanessa gives Nicole a gentle shove along a path into the field.
Vanessa: We all should understand where our food comes from.
Vanessa: And the best way to learn is by doing.
Nicole: But the other kids here smell weird!
Panel 3
Nicole continues, reluctantly, along the path, as her mother stands behind, watching her.
Vanessa: Then you must also learn to see beyond superficial differences, little one.
Vanessa: Keep your eyes, ears, and mind open.
Vanessa: And that mouth shut.
Panel 4
Nicole walks up to where the Farmer, a 30-ish looking man in overalls and four other children roughly Nicole's age are pulling hoes out of a wheeled bin.
Farmer: Ah, glad ya could join us, Ms. Oresme.
Farmer: Ready to learn s'more 'bout farming?
Nicole: If I have to be.
